Your TQUK COSHH Risk Assessment course begins with a short introduction and course overview before we look at what would be classed as a hazardous substance under COSHH and what COSHH risk assessing is. You will learn the stages of COSHH Risk Assessment and the importance of conducting reviews.

In this section, you will learn the COSHH Regulations and the duties of both the employer and the employee. We will look at the CLP and GHS Regulations, how and why we use COSHH Safety Data Sheets, and the Control of Major Accidents Hazards Regulations 2015.

This section covers the different types of Hazardous Substances you may encounter, including the mixing of chemicals, liquids, different types of dust, biological agents, gasses and vapours, lead, explosives and solvents.

In this section, we talk about the different ways substances can enter our bodies followed by COSHH in normal office environments where many products can surprisingly cause a risk.

This section begins with the Hierarchy of Control and the use of PPE. We look at handling chemicals and clean up procedures, using chemical spill kits and the correct disposal of medical and dental waste products. You will learn about exposure limits, permits to work, and emergency procedures, including the need for COSHH Health Surveillance. Finally, we look at the correct procedures for storing and transporting chemicals.

Here we look at the key areas that are not covered by COSHH Regulations, asbestos, lead products, and radioactive substances. There are different procedures for dealing with these, and we look at each in more detail.

In this section, you will learn the 5 stages of Risk Assessment and how to carry one out. Firstly by identifying the hazard, and those who may be harmed by it, before evaluating the risk and deciding on the precautions needed, and finally recording and reviewing your finding.

In conclusion, we have a brief course summary to prepare you for your final test.
